We believe God is calling Real Life to grow with our community, becoming a desirable and welcoming church family. We want to “Make Room” for those seeking a Christ-centered community, and we are committed to creating space for the next generation of believers.

Since stepping into their roles as Senior Pastors of Real Life Church in 2017, Pastor Dean and Amy Deguara have faithfully led the church into a season of remarkable health and growth. By God’s grace, the church has grown exponentially, expanding from 500 to over 1,300 attendees across three Sunday services. Today, Real Life Church is celebrated as one of the most diverse and fastest-growing congregations in Natomas and the Greater Sacramento area.

In response to this unprecedented growth, the leadership team has launched the “Make Room” campaign—a visionary initiative to secure a permanent home for our church family. The plan involves purchasing and renovating the former Gold’s Gym at 1900 Del Paso Road, transforming it into a place of worship and ministry that will serve our community for generations.

Our goal is to raise a minimum of $2.5 million over the next two years to fund the first phase of renovations. This step will establish a lasting presence and witness for Jesus Christ in North Sacramento and the Natomas community, creating space for more lives to be transformed by His love.

 FAQs

  • Two big factors will guide these decisions: seating capacity and growth. We expect the new auditorium to increase our seating capacity to 600 - 800, compared to our current seating capacity of around 400. At the same time, we anticipate we will continue to grow and the growth we experience will determine how many services we will need.

  • Small groups will continue to meet in person (on and off campus), on zoom, and throughout the week.

    • Prayer is always an excellent way to support the Make Room Initiative. We pray together weekly in the Upper Zoom on Monday Mornings at 7am. We welcome new prayer partners anytime! If you are interested, contact the church office for more information on how to join.

    • Consider serving with your time and talent at RLC to help strengthen our ministry teams as we continue to stay healthy and grow over the next two years.

    • There will be many opportunities for serving in the new building as we renovate and prepare to open!

  • We are blessed to already have an existing relationship with DesCor Builders who did the renovations at the 1921 Arena property in 2013. They are a very reputable builder of churches in the area and have worked with some great churches including: The Father’s House Vacaville, TFH Napa, and Jesus Culture.

  • A rough estimate would be between 18-24 months based on the following variables:

    • Scope of the Project: The complexity, size, and specifics of a project significantly impact the timeline.

    • Design and Planning: This includes time for architectural drawings, engineering plans, permits, and approvals. If the design phase involves multiple revisions or if there are delays in permitting, the timeline will be extended.

Budget and Funding: Projects with adequate funding tend to proceed more smoothly. Delays in funding can pause or slow down progress.

  • We have reached out to the City Planner who confirmed the property is zoned and permitted for religious assembly.

  • Real Life will not consider starting a K-12 school, but will continue to endorse the Christian Schools in the Sacramento region: Woodland Christian, Trinity Christian School, Destiny Christian Academy, etc.

    • We will be officially launching the School of Victory, a digital school of discipleship in 2025, so that is one way to continue your personal growth while away.

    • A person moving away for any reason could also participate with our online campus and small groups by zoom.

  • Architectural designs and plans will be revealed throughout the different phases of the renovation process. They will be made available on our website at rlcsac.com.

  • The Make Room Initiative is based on everyone who participates making a two year commitment, so our hope is to raise a minimum of 2.5 million over the duration of that time.

  • Once we learn where the best place to install a bicycle rack is on the property and it is approved by the city we would like to see one on the property as well.

  • Love Natomas will seek to have its own designated warehouse space at another location in our community.

  • Each person can help tremendously by continuing to pray with us, tithe regularly, serve with their time and talent, and make a two-year commitment to the Make Room Initiative.

  • RLC will continue to partner with Sac Christian Healing Ministry by providing space if it is the desire of their leadership team to move with us.

  • 1921 Arena is approximately 23,000 square feet. 1900 Del Paso Rd. is 42,000 square feet.

  • Anything is possible! If the opportunity presented itself and we were in a position to acquire more property in the complex in the future, we would consider it.

  • We will have more detail on the total renovation costs in the coming weeks and months ahead, including the cost of each phase of the renovation. We estimate anywhere from 3.5 to 5 million dollars to complete the renovation.
