Fasting for Our Future
At Real Life Church Sacramento, we believe God is always preparing us for what’s next — not just by changing what’s around us, but by shaping what’s within us.
As we step into these 21 days of prayer and fasting, we’re inviting you into a season of intentional space with God. This isn’t about performance or pressure. It’s about slowing down, seeking Him together, and allowing God to prepare our hearts for the future He is building in us and through us as a church.
Different Types of Fasts
There is no single “right” way to fast. Below are several biblical and practical fasting options. We encourage you to pray and ask God which fast is appropriate for you.
-
This fast involves abstaining from all food for a specific period of time, while continuing to drink water.
This type of fast is seen in Scripture but should be approached wisely and prayerfully.Note: If you have medical conditions or concerns, please consult a doctor before attempting a complete fast.
-
A partial fast limits certain foods or meals. This could look like:
Fasting one or two meals per day
Eating only simple foods during a certain time window
This type of fast allows you to maintain daily responsibilities while still creating intentional space for prayer.
-
Based on Daniel 1, this fast focuses on eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and water, while abstaining from meat, sweets, and rich foods.
This is a common option during extended fasts and helps remove indulgences while staying physically nourished.
-
This fast involves giving up something that regularly consumes your time or attention, such as:
Social media
Streaming or entertainment
Gaming
Coffee, sweets, or specific comforts
The goal is to replace that time with prayer, Scripture, and listening to God.
Let’s Seek Him Together
This season is about slowing down, listening closely, and trusting that God is doing deep work beneath the surface. We believe He is rebuilding hearts, strengthening faith, and preparing our church for the future He has planned.
We’re honored to walk these 21 days together as a church family.
